Is there a minimum age requirement to reserve a cabin?
Yes. The person reserving the cabin must be at least 25 years old.
What communications will you provide after I make a reservation?
You will receive a reservation confirmation and a rental agreement to the email provided within 24 hours. Please e-sign and submit the rental agreement with-in 72 hours.
Do I need to bring my own kitchen utensils?
Essentials kitchen items are provided. If you need any specialty items, you will need to bring them along.
What other supplies are provided in the cabin?
Minimum startup supplies are provided which includes: laundry detergent, dish soap, shampoo, conditioner, and hand soap - any additional supplies will need to be provided by the guest.
Do I need to bring my own linens or towels?
Each cabin is equipped with 1 bath towel per the cabin's maximum occupancy. (For example, a cabin with maximum occupancy of 8 with be provided with 8 towels.) No additional towels are provided by FSVR unless the house does not have a washer and dryer.
What do I need for check-in?
You will need your driver’s license and credit card used for the reservation. A photo copy will be made of your drivers license before you are issued the keys to your cabin. Only the cardholder can pick up the keys. The keys will not be released to anyone other than the cardholder.
Where do I pick up the keys?
The rental agreement must be e-signed and submitted to Five Star in order to receive the key pick up information. Two days prior to arrival, you will receive an email with information regarding the key pick up location.

How do I know if my home is ready to become a vacation rental?
If you’re converting an existing home (or buying with rentals in mind), Cloud Nine VR's checklist focuses on two things: passing local requirements and setting the home up to meet guest expectations so it performs well.
Do I have to register my vacation rental with the city or county?
Yes. Your property must be registered with the city or county depending on where it’s located, and Cloud Nine VR can help you through the registration process.
Can Five Star coordinate inspections and required updates?
Yes. They can set up inspections and take care of required updates needed to get the home approved for rental.
Does Five Star profit from required updates or force me to use their contractors?
No. The page states their purpose is to help you get rental-ready, they don’t profit from required updates, and you can use Cloud Nine VR or hire your own contractor.
What inspections are required before my home can be rented?
It must pass a fire inspection with the city or county and the fire department before it can be rented.
What does the fire inspection require?
Required items include smoke detectors (one per level, in the kitchen, each bedroom, and the hallway between bedrooms), carbon monoxide detectors (one per level), combined units if hard-wired, exit lights, an illuminated address sign, a fire extinguisher (they note strict regulations and recommend not buying/installing before inspection), a five-gallon locking metal ash can for each fireplace, and for the barbeque grill a metal ash can with lid plus a wire brush.
Who pays the fire department inspection bill?
The page states the fire department bills Cloud Nine VR and you’ll see that charge on your statement.
What does the city/county inspection look for?
Examples listed include switch plates on all outlets, a deadbolt that is not double-keyed (key outside and lever inside), window screens in bedrooms, hand railings when there are four or more steps, deck railings with gaps no larger than four inches for child safety, no exposed wiring or extension cords used for lighting/heaters/appliances, property free of weeds, water heater straps, a garbage disposal clip, and a chimney clear of tree limbs. The page notes this is not inclusive and is subject to change.
What are the occupancy limits for my vacation rental?
The page states maximum occupancy is 16 people, with no more than one person per 200 square feet of building area, excluding garages or other accessory buildings.
What supplies does Cloud Nine VR provide for guests?
Five Star provides linens, towels, trash bags, dish towels, paper towels, dish soap and dishwasher soap, plus shampoo and bar soap “just like a hotel.”
What should I do with personal items and valuables before renting?
They recommend storing personal items in locked drawers, cabinets, or closets, and removing valuables for safekeeping.
How should trash be handled at the property?
They recommend keeping outdoor trash cans in a locked area and note that guests will remove their own trash from the site.
What are the expectations for windows and window coverings?
Windows should be in good working condition, lockable, and have screens, and window coverings such as blinds or curtains should be in good working order.
Do I need to provide cleaning and laundry equipment?
They recommend keeping a vacuum on hand with an extra bag. A washer and dryer are “highly recommended,” and they note there’s an extra fee if you don’t have one because laundry must be taken out.
What outdoor and seasonal items should I provide?
They recommend a barbeque grill with charcoal, wire brush, utensils, and ash can; a portable heater for cold months and a fan for warm months; exterior door mats; in some areas a snow shovel; patio furniture; and one or two flashlights with batteries.
What should the kitchen include for a guest-ready setup?
They list plates, bowls, coffee mugs, drinking glasses, wine glasses, steak knives, and silverware (with matching pieces as much as possible); pots, pans, lids, strainer, cooking utensils, cutting knives, cutting board, mixing bowls, baking sheets and bakeware; a wine opener, can opener, hot pads, oven mitts, and dish drainer; salt and pepper and other regular spices; a coffee pot and filters; a toaster; a microwave; general-purpose and glass spray cleaners; plus a trash can, broom, dust pan, mop, and bucket.
What should the dining area include?
A table with enough chairs for occupancy, plus breakfast bar stools for extra seating when possible.
What should each bedroom include?
They recommend two blankets, two pillows, and a bed spread or quilt for each bed (Cloud Nine VR provides sheets and regular-size pillowcases), extra blankets in the closet for colder weather, a TV in each bedroom with a remote, and at least a dozen hangers per closet. Cable and DVD players are described as a nice addition but not required.
What should bathrooms include?
They list non-slip bath mats in tubs or showers, a toilet brush, a trash can, and a plunger, and note towels are provided by Cloud Nine VR.
What should the living room include?
They suggest blankets and throw pillows; a color TV with cable, a DVD player, and remote (flat screen preferred); a telephone (with a recommendation to block long-distance calls); and for fireplaces, an area for firewood storage, a metal ash can, fireplace tools, a lighter, and a non-flammable hearth rug to protect the floor.
What upgrades help increase bookings and rental income?
Recommended items include flat screen TVs in all bedrooms with cable access and or a DVD player, Wi-Fi, a pool table or foosball table or game table, and nice updated décor.
What items are not recommended for vacation rentals?
They specifically call out recliners and pull-out couches, light-colored carpet (preferring dark solid-surface carpet), and candles due to fire risk.
